1. Review the basics – Onsite optimization

 

There is a lot of confusion and misinformation flying at you every day about what will work and what doesn’t when it comes to Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

 

You will see arguments that say that say that onsite factors account 80%, then you open your next email and see somebody saying that onsite factors account for 10%

 

Now you are left feeling confused and not knowing what to do….

 

Allow me to make a BOLD statement and say that onsite factors account for 100% of your success…

  

Why?

 

If you don’t get the onsite factors right then Google will not list your website…

If you have been working diligently on you offsite optimization and feel that your website should be ranking higher than it is then I suggest that you review your foundation.

 

Read through the content on your site and check onsite elements such as your Title tags and Image Alt text . Perhaps your missing out on the double benefit of optimizing your images.

Tip: If you have neglected to optimize your images then you could missing out on the benefit that Google’s Universal Search feature provides.

 

Have you ever noticed that sometimes Google displays images at the top of the results on some searches you perform?

                                                           

Google’s Universal Search is an interface that Google implemented that combines results from their various search utilities such as Image Search and Google News and combines the results in the main search results.

  

I performed the simple exercise of optimizes images on one of my websites. I completely neglected to add alt text with the on the website and after going back, renaming adding alt text, I had an overnight traffic increase of about 15% coming as a direct result of my minimal effort…

           

Your homework assignment for this weekend is to review your Title tags and image optimization – I have found with my private coaching client that while they knew about this, they simply forgot to optimize their images… Hey, I’ve forgotten to do this on several occasions too…
