Did you notice at the US National Party Conventions had Google Maps voting booths????
I certainly noticed this while watching CNN coverage of the events…
Yeah, as a marketer I watch television in a VERY different way now…
Google is defininately taking advantage of product placement marketing tactics with the election aren’t they… Food for thought….
Moving on to “normal” business issues now:
Like clockwork, Google has tended to make major changes in late October through November to their ranking formula so you must make sure you are ready for any changes the search giant throws at you…
(trust me on this if you get advance notice the upcoming holiday
season will be much happier time for you, I have been around long
enough to know…)
But this year, because of the US election, I predict there will be
one of the biggest changes we’ve seen in a long time at Google
because their appearance to be in bed with the election candidates…
A perfect storm - Google Q4 + US Election
I used to work at Nortel Networks in their telecommunications management software development house, I competely understand why Google tends to push major updates prior to close out Q4…
Fourth quarter earnings are crucial for major companies success on the stock markets… So the Google coders are working their tales off to get their coding done
for deployment so year end numbers can be collected and presented to the media so their stock can rally and hit record numbers
In fact, I just checked Google’s stock price and it’s sitting at a handsome $449.15 / share.
The pressure is on inside the walls of the GooglePlex in Mountain View California to drive that stock price through the roof….
And that means there will very likely be a major algorithm (mathematical formula) change to drive Google’s profits through the roof to end Fiscal Year 2008 for the search giant.
And you were told by the media there’s a recession...
With Google’s stock price sitting at a mere $449.15 (with a recent one day gain of over $10/share), this at the same time as major financial institutes approaching bankruptucy…
LOL…. The only recession going on is for those people that are missing out on having a successful online businesses!!! Googler’s are certainly doing well aren’t they and they ARE an online business…
Summer vacations are done at the Plex and it’s time for the worker bees at Google to get busy and get their stuff done meet forth quarter earnings projections…
Remember that Google is a publicly traded company and there are now in bed with
the United States Government!!!!!
You better believe the GooglePlex is a busy place this month with developers attending code planning and review meetings along with new technology deployment plans
Ohhhhh, how I hated those meetings when I was at Nortel… I never hated what I did, in fact I loved mucking about with multi-million dollar computer systems…
But I did hate having to get up at 5:30am to battle rush hour traffic only to arrive at
work to have to site in on a code review meeting….
Yuck!!!!
